Postdoctoral fellowships in the area of Bacterial Metabolic Engineering

Job description
We are seeking two highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral fellows to become part of the founding team in the Bacterial Metabolic Engineering Group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at the Technical University of Denmark. The core group at the Center is focusing on applied strategic research in the area of metabolic engineering and systems biology.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

We seek to fill two postdoctoral positions in the area of metabolic engineering for the production of functional food additives using bacterial cell factories. The successful candidates will be working on projects with direct commercial potential. Pathways to promising targets will be identified, expressed and optimized in bacterial host organisms such as E. coli. New methods for automated high throughput cloning will also be developed. The successful candidates will become part of a large interdisciplinary team of scientists, where there will be opportunities for collaboration with other research groups focusing on metabolomics, in silico systems biology, metagenomics and plant biochemistry.
Qualifications
Mandatory requirements:

  • PhD degree or equivalent in relevant field
  • High quality publication record within PhD research field
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed within a competitive research field

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Proven track record within metabolic engineering of bacterial host organisms, molecular biology, high throughput cloning technologies, analytical techniques for metabolite analysis, enzyme purification, enzymatic assays, and/or experience with small scale fermentation.
  • Training from leading research laboratories

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
